Silicon Gardens backs *codeplain in $3M seed-round, third partnership with Dušan Omerčević

We're following on our pre-seed investment in *codeplain, an AI-native platform rethinking how software is built and maintained in the age of coding agents
We're excited to share that we've followed on our pre-seed investment in *codeplain — joining a $3M seed round led by GapMinder VC, with Cosmin Ochisor, Partner at GapMinder, joining the Board.
This marks the third time we've worked with Dušan Omerčević. We first backed him at Cleanshelf, a SaaS spend management platform that raised $8M and was acquired by LeanIX, subsequently acquired by SAP in 2023. After his exit, Omerčević joined us as an investor. We backed *codeplain at pre-seed and are now following on as the company moves from thesis to product to first customers.
"We back founders who are solving problems they understand better than anyone else in the room. Dušan has spent his career at exactly this intersection, reducing friction in how software is built, maintained, and understood at scale. The AI moment has made that problem urgent at scale, and we could not be more excited for Dušan and team to tackle it."— Nina Leskovec
The problem *codeplain is solving
For the first time in the history of the industry, software is no longer constrained by the cost of writing code. It will soon be constrained by the cost of maintaining it.
"Agentic coding is giving the industry 10x more code. But unless we fundamentally rethink maintenance, software teams are going to drown in the complexity created by that explosion," — Dušan Omerčević, founder and CEO of *codeplain
*codeplain is built around Phoenix Architecture. This model argues the durable layer of software should move upward from source code into specifications and system intent, while implementation becomes something that can be continuously regenerated. Developers write specifications in *plain, a structured natural language designed for engineers. *codeplain transforms those into tested, validated, production-ready software using AI coding agents including Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex. When requirements change, implementation gets regenerated. Source code stops being the thing you maintain forever.
The ten-person team already counts Hycu and DevRev among its customers. The seed funding will be used to extend *codeplain's agentic capabilities and expand its presence at developer conferences across Europe and the US.
"Dušan and his team are a reminder of something we believe deeply: the CEE region produces world-class engineers and builders. You just need the right problem, the right team, and the grit to go all the way."— Vuk Lau
Welcome back to the portfolio, Dušan!
